LET ME INTRODUCE MYSELF, I AM AN ARTIST TEACHER BASED IN SAVANNAH. |
After teaching a lecture to my college classes I always found there was more to share and so much more to learn. Teaching is a calling for me, which makes me compelled to share my thoughts, insights, interactions, and readings. I refer to myself as an "Artist Teacher" from the book titled the same, subtitled, A Philosophy for Creating and Teaching by G. James Daichendt. My goal is to share my encounters, achievements, travels as I progress through this artistic journey.
My art is about expansion and restriction. Each canvas is a man made precept, a restrictive space, for which the contents of the painting cannot exceed. The curvilinear form is very feminine as rectilinear forms feel masculine I explore the idea of feminine pliability. Skin thick or thin has unlimited potential for growth. In my work, I combine these contradictory factions. Because the limitation of the canvas restricts the growth of the vessel it abnormally expands pushing against itself unnaturally, redefining into unrecognizable, beautiful and even comedic form. I explore the idea of feminine pliability. As a peripheral exercise they bring to mind animated characters in the way we see our world today as passing shapes and entities without specifics, but perceptions.

It is my hope that in sharing through blogging you will feel a part of my process and journey.
